Senior Expansion Manager (m/f/d)

As our Senior Expansion Manager (m/f/d) you will be responsible for driving the development of new and existing expansion projects for NTT GDC EMEA’s Data Center capacity and footprint. Key activities include:

  • Defining and implementing expansion strategies for a number of data centre development projects in line with defined business plans
  • Coordinating with internal teams, external consultants and third-party stakeholders to secure all necessary consents and permits for the successful delivery and operation of data centre buildings
  • Support the transactions team in identification and due diligence of new site acquisition opportunities

This role reports to the Director Expansion.

 

What you will do

  • Hold the day-to-day responsibility for the management, co-ordination and driving of all aspects of approximately 3-4 expansion projects within the region as delegated by the Line Manager
  • Pro-actively manage the overall project with all internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare and Maintain a Project Execution Plan and Program for each project
  • Proactively review risk, progress, change and opportunity against the approved business case, whilst having a strong commercial mindset
  • Pro-actively seek opportunities for project improvement including schedule and cost savings, and increases to deliverable capacity
  • Support Transaction Managers in the technical assessment of new site acquisition opportunities
  • Coordinate the input of other stakeholder departments, for establishing total project delivery budgets, including management of change control, preparation of business cases and funding requests
  • From inception to the successful completion of the planning and permitting of any new development or expansion, serve as a process and schedule leader for interdisciplinary team, including finance, legal design, leasing, construction, and operations to ensure business results
  • Achieving the necessary planning permissions for the development by identifying the requirements, critical path and required partners and contractors/sub consultants required to execute the required applications
  • Agree the project brief and review the requirements in line with project strategy and original business case
  • Ensure that the approved business case is reflected at key stages during the design and implementation phases of the project. Where there are deviations, these are to be reported as changes and approval obtained

 

What we are looking for

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in project development, design, construction and/or program management of Data Centers or similar high specification Corporate Real Estate
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Degree preferences: Real estate, business management, construction, engineering, law
  • Recent experience within a global organization and international remit
  • Substantial knowledge of Data Center Design principles and delivery including permitting and utilities
  • Strong project and stakeholder management skills
  • International travel required when necessary
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with strong quantitative analytic skills
    in German and English
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills at all levels of the organization and with suppliers
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to make high judgement decisions
  • Demonstrably strong negotiation skills
  • Outstanding relationship-builder and communicator, both internally and externally
  • Unique ability to balance strategic thinking with tactical needs
  • Demonstrated skills in change leadership, technical management, and collaboration
  • Ability to work in multinational, interdisciplinary and culturally diverse teams
