Passive Connectivity Infrastructure Lead Technician

As the Lead Passive Connectivity Infrastructure Technician, you will be responsible for managing and deploying passive fibre and copper connectivity within our Datacenters as well as coordination, planning and undertaking client works for Hemel Hempstead, Slough, LON and potential other regions. As part of this growing team there will be a key focus to reduce outsource spend and lead-times through bringing client works inhouse through identification and training of the Passive Connectivity Infrastructure team.

 

Your Responsibilities

  • Responsible for capturing, planning and execution of client and internal works including passive infrastructure and ICT, identifying, and growing client works, reducing outsource spend
  • Overall coordination and completion internal and client works on-time, on budget and ensure that quality standards are maintained
  • Create and present to LCAB Method of Procedure’s (MOPS) for the PCI team and its contractors
  • Work with Datacenter Services staff to upload passive assets into FNT
  • Identify time and cost efficiencies through insourcing
  • Supervise external & internal passive works, in line with change process
  • Managing local stock items to undertake client works
  • Work with local teams to plan and carryout internal works across the NTT GDC estate 
  • Continually drive connectivity service improvements
  • Identify value added services


Your Profile

  • Experience of managing technical teams
  • Ability to splice fibre (desirable, full training will be provided), test both copper and fibre cabling
  • Experience in the data center or telecommunications environment with a focus on connectivity infrastructure
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics
  • A good awareness of existing suppliers of connectivity infrastructure
  • Motivated and client success driven, and to be able to motivate and drive the team to realise success
  • Computer literate and experienced in Word, Excel, FNT and Salesforce
  • Proactive attitude to change and a willingness to learn and grow current skillset
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent written and verbal in English
