Principal Engineer EMEA (m/f/d)

As the Principal Engineer Manager EMEA (m/f/d), you will be a key member of our Central Engineering team, providing strategic direction and advanced technical support to local operational teams across the EMEA region. You will manage and set the direction within Central Engineering for a team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and scalability of our data centre infrastructure. This role demands a combination of technical leadership, strategic vision, and hands-on expertise to drive innovation and operational excellence. This role is full-time, hybrid-working and can either be located in the UK, the Netherlands or Germany.

 

Your Responsibilities 

  • Develop technical strategies for the operation and expansion of data centers in the EMEA Region
  • Lead and develop a team of experts (electrical and mechanical engineers) in central engineering
  • Advise on mechanical and electrical upgrades, planning, design and commissioning of data centres and other critical infrastructure projects
  • Ensure the availability and performance of data centre infrastructure
  • Develop and implement standardized processes and best practices
  • Manage technical projects involving complex infrastructure and asset replacement
  • Work closely with local teams to align technical initiatives
  • Identify and implement imrpovements to enhance energy efficiency in collaboration with other departments
  • Review and approve safety guidelines in electrical, mechanical areas 

 

Your Profile 

  • Engineering degree, higher qualifications with related professional experiences or equivalent qualification
  • Proven experience in critical environments such as data centres, civil construction of complex infrastructure projects, power plants or comparable demanding industries
  • Professional experience in comparable roles such as Project Manager, Engineer Manager, Lead Mechanical, Electrical Engineer 
  • Ability to lead and develop larger technical teams
  • Strong strategic and planning skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience managing large scale, complex projects
  • Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in a second European language being a plus
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and business requirements
  • Relevant certifications and memberships are advantageous
  • UK: To undergo full security checks to BS7858:2019 standard
