Data Center Services Technician
The role of the Data Center Technician is to ensure all work activities carried out at the Data Center are in line with existing procedures and meet current standards. These activities will include, but not be limited to, assisting and supporting other Data Center Technicians in carrying out their duties, supporting internal teams when carrying out troubleshooting or installation work or responding to queries and supporting local and multinational companies in completing customer requests.
This role will require travel to data centers within region and will include support for other initiatives as and when required.
Your responsibilities
- Install and maintain servers as our customers’ demands change
- Respond, action and resolve requests / faults logged both internally and externally
- Racking of switches, load balancers, firewalls, servers and storage arrays
- Active monitoring of all hardware
- Work with the Deployment Team in configuring customer solutions
- Support the Engineering Team in testing new Operating Systems and hardware
- Escalation of faults and issues to various internal teams, dependant on the type of fault/issue
- Work closely with 3rd party service providers
- Maintaining existing asset management systems
- Ensuring cable installations are carried out according to existing standards
Your profile
- Educated to degree level or equivalent (preferably in an IT or related subject) or relevant work experience
- Appropriate soft skills training preferred
- Initial understanding of customers systems and response times based upon information held for each customer
- Ability to adapt and influence in a rapidly changing environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop and build relationships
- Full driving license valid for use in the UK
- Undergo full security checks to BS7858:2019
