Senior BMS Engineer

As our new Senior BMS Engineer you will ensure the smooth running of the BMS systems across all NTT Global Data Center facilities in the UK at all times.  The role will require communicating and negotiating with internal departments, subcontractors and clients to ensure the corrective and pre-planned maintenance is carried out in an agreed and timely manner.


Your responsibilities 

  • Becoming an integral member of the BMS team responsible for all BMS related issues within (UK) NTT Global Data Centers EMEA

  • Providing assistance to all departments when extracting, presenting & reporting data from the BMS

  • Providing 1st line BMS support across all departments and external contractors

  • Documenting procedures

  • Devising and maintaining critical spares lists and advise what to purchase based on availability, likelihood of failure, etc

  • Training NTT Global Data Center EMEA UK colleagues on BMS usage

  • Auditing BMS graphics and rectifying any issues found

  • Performing routine service checks & PPM of the BMS across NTT Global Data Center EMEA UK infrastructure

  • Consolidating and improving all sites BMS to a common NTT Global Data Center EMEA controlled database

  • Reading and understanding mechanical / electrical plans and wiring diagrams

  • Performing manufacturer upgrades to maintain a fully functional BMS platform

  • Supporting the implementation of BMS being delivered to new Data Centers

  • Ongoing optimisation of BMS systems for monitoring and information reporting to stakeholders

  • Analysing and correcting communication issues

  • Coordinating work with other trades (i.e.: Electrical, Mechanical, FM teams etc)

  • Supervising maintenance work on BMS and ensuring maintenance activities meet required standards

  • Monitoring the performance of existing systems and making appropriate adjustments, in agreement with the BMS Manager & Technical Department

  • Potentially providing on call cover for emergency scenarios

  • Project management of small scale BMS works

  • Supervision of external BMS contractors


Your profile

  • To have previous operational experience in a BMS technician / commissioning engineer role

  • Strong working knowledge of Tridium Niagara AX or N4, including graphics

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio

  • Experience working within a Data Center or critical environment

  • Experience dealing with commercial clients

  • Willingness to travel to all NTT Global Data Center EMEA sites in the UK (Dagenham, Hemel Hempstead, Slough) as required

  • Ability to work remotely as required

  • Be highly conscientious and organised

  • Self-motivated and self-starting

  • Excellent communication skills

  • A background in, or experience with, electrical, mechanical or controls engineering

  • Have a full driving license valid for use in the UK and your own means of transport

  • Comply with a full security checks to a minimum standard of BS7858:2019
